On April 20, theme activities of “A Reading Lingnan”Civil Reading Program and Guangdong “World Book Day”2019 co-organized by Publicity Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province was held by the Library. Leaders who attended the Ceremony are as follows: Wang Guike, Vice Head of Publicity Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee concurrently Director General of Guangdong Administration of Press and Publication (Copyright Administration), Wang Yiyang, Director General of Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, Zheng Guangning, Editor-in-Chief of Guangdong Radio and Television Station, Liu Lanni, Counsel of Guangdong Women’s Federation, Wang Chuang, Deputy Director General of Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Zhao Hong, Deputy Director General of Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, Chen Chunhuai, Deputy Director General of Radio and Television Administration of Guangdong Province, Tang Rui, Deputy Secretory of Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Liu Lili, Division Chief of Publicity Division of Work Commission for Offices Directly under People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Zhang Weitao, Division Chief of Publication Division of Publicity Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee.
“A Reading Lingnan” Civil Reading Program acts as a key brand program for promoting reading across the province and building up the province with strong culture. This year, various activities themed with “Enjoy Reading • Cheering for Our Motherland”, are well-prepared especially focusing on celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of new China, the People’s Republic of China, such as “Red Classics Reciting”, “I Am in Praise of the Motherland”, “Chinese Youth • Cheering for the Motherland”, so as to create a strong atmosphere across the province: together, we celebrate our motherland’s 70th birthday; together, we enjoy the great glory; together, we build up the great rejuvenation. At the same time, we will take the advantage of implementing Guangdong Provincial Regulations on Civil Reading Promotion to further improve reading facilities, optimize supply of reading materials, promote focus reading services, launch reading programs for public good, strengthen reading guarantee mechanism, with a view to push civil reading forward to a new high tide among the public.
On this occasion of Guangdong “World Book Day” 2019, a publicity film of “A Reading Lingnan” civil reading program showed all-round achievements through the years in this regard; Lingnan Culture Series recommendation and the first-ever release of Insights into Lingnan Culture stood as the latest fine works and fruits gained through passing down and enhancing its culture; the release of Guangdong Civil Reading Index 2018 and Guangdong Public Library Developments 2018 would definitely give a strong impetus to the development of civil reading all over the province in a scientific manner.
In the lecture room, various such forms as recitation, music and dance were adopted to manifest the charm of reading; outside it in the library, series of reading promotion programs caught much attention of library visitors for better meeting citizens’ cultural needs and accelerating the building of a reading society; particularly, a program called Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao “Shared Reading 30’” was launched simultaneously at 4 main venues, Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province, Shenzhen Library, Hong Kong Central Library and Macao Public Library and other venues with the aim of seeking the shared cultural origin across Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Leading cadres of Leading Group of Guangdong Civil Reading Program from these member organs and institutions as Publicity Department of Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, Work Commission for Offices Directly under People’s Government of Guangdong Province, Department of Education of Guangdong Province, Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province, Radio and Television Administration of Guangdong Province, Civilization Office of Guangdong Province, Guangdong Federation of Trade Union, Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, Guangdong Women’s Federation, publication and distribution institutions with in province, press and media agencies, New Era Civilization Practice Center, also representatives of library circle, library visitors, students and reporters, altogether over 300 people made their presence here.
