In the afternoon of May 21, 2017, the 7th Library Cup Guangdong English Speaking Contest (Final) was held in the Lecture Hall 1 of Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province.
On May 21, 2017, afternoon, the 7th Library Cup Guangdong English Speaking Contest (Final) was held at Lecture Hall 1 of Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province. The final consisted of 3 parts, Prepared Speech, Impromptu Test, and Question and Answer, with the aim of evaluating speakers’ command of English proficiency and public speaking skills. Altogether, 20 contestants stood out as finalists after fierce competition during the preliminary and the semi-final rounds online. They impressed all present with speeches and responsiveness on the theme of Exploring Cultural Lingnan and Developing Guangdong Dream. The Lecture Hall was really made a full house.
This Contest as a program, has been listed among “A Reading Guangdong, A Wonderful Life” Guangdong Reading Promotion Events, initiated and guided by Department of Culture. It operated as last year on a successful mode of “Online Contest + On-stage Contest”, thus overcoming time and space obstacles. The Contest was co-hosted by Library Society Guangdong, Guangdong Academic Library and Information Committee, and Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong, joined by some over 120 public libraries and academic libraries of higher institutions participating in the event, and set a new record of attracting 20369 contestants.
