On the eve of the Spring Festival 2020, a new outbreak of coronavirus-infected pneumonia suddenly broke out, and all the people were mobilized to join in the efforts of prevention and control of the epidemic. Guangdong province initiated first-level response mechanism for major public health emergencies on January 23, then Sun Yat-sen Library of Guangdong Province responded promptly, by urgently closing the library on January 24, suspending all reader activities, exempting all fines for overdue library items to protect the health and safety of library visitors and librarians. Though the library on-site service stopped, but the public cultural services never go offline. Digital resources access, online library card certification, online classrooms, online reference and online document delivery services were made available to the public. Since then, the Library has been providing timely updates of digital resources for home learning via website, App and WeChat platform.
In this special period of prevention and control of the disease outbreak, we, librarians, may not have been given the chance to front line of the fight against the virus, but we, have always been bearing in mind the noble mission of "providing quality public cultural services to the people ", by offering various online services and resources so as to help people gain positive and spiritual strength to overcome difficulties and garden the mind and soul.
